Lodders’ cyclists help raise thousands for farming charity

The 2018 GAFT bike ride has raised a staggering £81,948.15 in aid of its three nominated charities – Farming Community Network, RSABI and Rural Support Network (Northern Ireland).

Lodders’ Michael Wakeling, Alastair Frew and David Lodder took to the cycling saddle to ride the final 18-mile leg of the GAFT Bike Ride around the UK raising funds for the Farming Community Network (FCN).

The bike ride’s baton travelled a total of 3,700 miles across the length and breadth of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales over the course of the bike relay organised by the Grain and Feed Trade Association and UK Grain and Feed Trade Associations.

Through the support and kind donations of clients and supporters, the Lodders’ cycling team were able to raise £1,350 to go towards the final total.

The total amount raised by the GAFT bike ride was announced at the annual dinner for the Bristol Corn and Feed Trade Association. A total of £81, 948.15 has been raised over the course of the 2018 event with the donations going to the FCN, along with the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution and Rural Support Network (Northern Ireland). These three charities work to support farming communities all over the UK in times of stress, anxiety and depression.

Following the GAFT bike ride, the BCFTA are continuing to raise money for these charities by auctioning off three bikes. Interested parties can contact Richard ( to either bid on or find out more about these three bikes:
