Sunday 23rd July saw over 80 people come to the Lodders Charitable Foundation’s inaugural fundraising event held in Henley in Arden. The charity dog walk culminated in over £2,500 being raised for The Shakespeare’s Puppies Appeal, one of the Foundation’s chosen charities for the year.
On what emerged as a glorious sunny Sunday morning in the Warwickshire countryside, walkers and their pups turned out in force to support the Lodders Charitable Foundation dog walk in memory of local resident and client of Lodders, Sally Badger.
Sally, who was partially sighted, received support from Stratford-based charity Shakespeare’s Puppies Appeal in the form of two guide dogs who made an invaluable difference to her life. Sally was well known in the local community and those who knew her remember her fondness and gratitude for each of her dogs, as well as the work she did to support the charity.
The event, which served as a fitting tribute to Sally as well as raising valuable funds for the Shakespeare’s Puppies Appeal, attracted guests from across the region who came to enjoy the four-mile countryside walk and the various activities going on throughout the day. Over £2,500 was raised for the charity, with donations still coming in, and it is hoped that Lodders Charitable Foundation will soon reach the fundraising target of £5,000 to name a guide dog puppy ‘Badger’ in Sally’s memory.
The Foundation was greatly supported by local sponsors of the event: Henley Golf Club; Peter Clarke & Co; John Earle LLP and NFU Mutual, as well as a team of marshals from the Shakespeare’s Puppies Appeal who diligently directed walkers around the course.
