How would you describe your role at Lodders?
I am an Associate in Lodders’ Dispute Resolution team. I advise clients on a broad range of contested will and trust disputes. My clients are usually executors or beneficiaries under a will. I also advice individuals who have not inherited part of a loved one’s estate because they have either been left out of a will or, there is no will.
What do you specialise in?
Contentious Trusts and Probate work.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I always find people interesting and fun to work with. I particularly enjoy being able to unravel complex problems and finding pragmatic solutions that work for the client. It is always a great feeling to know that you have resolved a matter for someone and that they no longer have to worry about their future.
What sort of clients do you work with?
I work with executors, trustees or beneficiaries under a will. I also help family members of someone who has passed away without a will in place and so no provision has been made for them under the intestacy rules.
When did you start at Lodders? Any interesting past employers?
I joined Lodders on 1st November 2021. Prior to that I worked at a law firm in Leicester for 10 years. My most interesting role was a short spell at the Leicestershire Police Headquarters not long after I left University. I worked in the HR department helping to recruit new police officers and special constables. It was a varied, fun and interesting role outside the traditional legal sector.
Have you always worked in the legal sector? If not, what did you do before?
Apart from my time at the Leicestershire Police Headquarters, I have always worked in the legal sector. I was a self-employed advocate for about 5 years after leaving University where I attended court hearings in relation to lots of different types of matters, such as mortgage repossessions and infant settlements.
Are you a member of any societies, committees or organisations either at work or externally?
I am a member of the Environmental team at Lodders.
Are you involved with, or a trustee, of any charities?
No. Although I often do some voluntary work for Loros, which is a local hospice in Leicestershire and Rutland. They provide care and respite for terminally ill patients and their families.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My new alarm clock which I bought especially to help get me out of bed so that I am never late for my commute! It has a special light up feature that has not let me down so far!
Any interesting qualifications?
I have a GSCE in Gujarati. I also still have a badge from my primary school for trying to swim but not being able too!
Any interesting personal achievements?
For my 30th birthday I did a skydive for Macmillan Cancer Support. I am scared of heights and so this was a bit of a personal challenge but also lots of fun. Plus, I raised some money for a good cause so that made it special.
