I joined Lodders as a trainee in March 2010. I was lucky enough to be able to stay with the firm after I qualified and time has flown by since! Lodders has been a fantastic firm to train at and grow with. I have worked with some experts in different fields and Lodders has the experience and reputation to attract good quality work and clients, whilst being friendly, welcoming and supportive.

I am now an Associate in the Real Estate team and advise clients on range of commercial property issues including acting for landlords and tenants on leases and ancillary documents such as licences, sales and purchases of investment properties such as office buildings, industrial units and business parks, and residential development.

I really enjoy working in commercial property as it often involves problem solving and finding the most practical and cost efficient way forwards. I enjoy working in the commercial environment too – commercial clients have different objectives and pressures than private clients and I also get to work with a variety of other professionals including architects, agents, surveyors and banks.

Do you have any interesting qualifications?
I chose a degree in Law and Sociology rather than straight Law as I thought it would add some additional interest to the topics I was studying. I had done both Sociology and Psychology at A Level so had an interest there anyway and it did help with thinking outside of the box and exploring different topics during my degree, which helped especially with all the reading involved with Law!

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My cat is the only alarm I need! Otherwise I do like to get into the office early to catch up get a coffee before the phone and emails start. When not at work all I need is some sunshine – I love spending time by the river in Stratford, the beach in Devon, or exploring other countries and cities.

Are you involved with, or a trustee, of any charities?
I am passionate about The Bear Pit which is a local amateur theatre company and whilst I am biased (my partner has acted in and directed a number of plays with them) the standard of their productions is outstanding, and people are often surprised they are not professionals. They are a charity and with each production have been able to expand and kit out their 100 seat theatre. A great evening out – you will not be disappointed!

Tell us about your interesting personal achievements!
I am really not a “runner” by any stretch of the imagination but I am very pleased to have completed both the Stratford 10k with the Lodders team and the Wolf Run with the Young Professionals Committee. Both outside of my comfort zone but a great sense of achievement and we raised money for great causes.

I have also become Lodders Quizmaster! We like trying different social events for our colleagues and our bi-annual Quiz Night is great fun, but highly competitive between departments seeking to win or defend the now highly coveted trophy! So twice a year I find myself wading through general knowledge and thinking up fun rounds and then hosting on the night. I’m no Egghead or a fan of public speaking, but it’s become a popular event and great for bringing us together.

I was also very lucky to get married on the stage at the RSC’s Swan Theatre. Definitely another time for facing any nerves in front of a crowd! This time though it was family and friends and a magical day. Stratford is a fabulous place to live and work.
