Fundraising dog walk returns to raise cash for local charities

Dog owners can step out somewhere new with their pooch at the same time as helping raise much-needed cash for four local independent charities, when the Lodders Charitable Foundation Dog Walk makes its return next month.

The Dog Walk takes place in Henley in Arden on Sunday 11th July, and all monies raised at the event will be donated to The Stratford Food Bank, The Orchestra of the Swan, Networkfour, and Cheltenham Open Door – the charities chosen as this year’s beneficiaries of the Lodders Charitable Foundation.

Back after two years, with the 2020 event cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dog Walk starts at 10am at Lodders Barn, Whitley, Edge Lane, which is home to local business Country Days for Dogs.

Tickets for the Dog Walk cost £5 for adults and £1 for each dog, and children can join in free of charge. It’s easy to pre-register via Eventbrite, or simply turn up on the day.

David Lodder, Chairman of the Charitable Foundation, explains, “Our annual charity Dog Walk is always a fun day out for all of the family and one of our flagship fundraisers each year.

“After being forced to cancel last year’s Dog Walk, we are really looking forward to seeing plenty of dogs and their owners this year. Hopefully, together we can raise plenty of money for our four fantastic, independent local charities, which will contribute to enabling them to continue the invaluable work that gives vital support to so many people, particularly during these difficult times.”

Lodders created the Lodders Charitable Foundation (LCF) in 2016 with the aim of raising vital financial support and providing help to local charities where it can make a genuine difference. To date, it has raised and donated more than £60,000 to independent charities.

Four local charities

The 2021 /2022 chosen charities are each local to Lodders’ offices: Orchestra of the Swan (OOTS), an English professional chamber orchestra based in Stratford upon Avon and Resident Orchestra at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, The Courtyard Hereford, and the Stratford Play House. Since 2014, 25 Swan players trained by music therapy charity Mindsong, have delivered over 600 live performance workshops to people living with dementia, their families and carers, within 40 care homes and seven dementia cafes.

Stratford Food Bank aims to prevent or relieve poverty in and around Stratford upon Avon by providing emergency food supplies to those in need, or organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

Network Four is a small growing charity that since it began in 2008 has supported and engaged over 6,500 young people, adults and families in crisis; and Cheltenham Open Door is dedicated to providing support to the town’s most vulnerable, disadvantaged, and lonely people, but receives no central funding and relies entirely on donations to run.
