Lodders backs local hospital charity for Make a Will month

22/07/2019

Lodders is supporting the annual Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity’s Make a Will fundraiser again this September, by creating or updating a will free of charge, in return for a donation.

Private client solicitors based at Lodders’ Cheltenham office on Montpellier Parade are giving their time and expertise in return for a donation of between £100 and £150 to the Charity.

Last year, the Make a Will month raised vital funds for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity’s CT Scanner Appeal, to help save and transform local lives through faster diagnosis, and to date has raised more than £7000.

Jessica Beddows, partner in Lodders’ private client team, joint head of the firm’s Cheltenham office, and a specialist in writing wills and Powers of Attorney, said: “Make a Will month is a fantastic way for us to use our knowledge and expertise to make a difference, raising funds for Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.

“We work closely with the hospitals, providing advice to patients in the Cancer Centre, so we know first-hand how the funds raised will help local people at what is a difficult time.

“We are delighted to continue with our support this year. Our new Cheltenham offices at Glensanda House on Montpellier Parade provide us with a fantastic location and extra space for our growing team where we can meet with the hospitals’ supporters taking part in the Make a Will month scheme.”

The suggested minimum donation for a straightforward single will is £100 or £150 for two ‘mirror wills’. If there are requirements over and above a standard will, the donation can still be made but there will be a fee for any additional work.

Lasting legacy

Commenting on the Make a Will month, Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity’s Head of Fundraising, Richard Hastilow-Smith, says: “Making a will is such an important thing to do, yet many of us don’t have one. A will enables you to ensure your wishes are followed when you are no longer here, and also provides an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy to the people and causes you really care about.

“Make a Will month is also a fantastic opportunity for people to get behind their hospitals by giving a donation in return for Lodders’ solicitors donating their expertise and time for free to create their will.

“We are very grateful to Lodders for their continued support. They are a fantastic team to work with and, like our Hospitals, have a long history of supporting people in the local area.”

Appointments with Lodders’ solicitors in September will be limited and given on a first-come, first-served basis. To book your place please contact Jenny Dickinson at Lodders on 01242 229092 or via email.
