Senior associate/partner

An exciting opportunity for a senior associate/partner to join our Private Client team.  Our Private Client team is one of the largest in the Midlands, with a national reputation for our support on all aspects of private client law including wills, trusts, estates and tax planning, and services for elderly and vulnerable clients.

Key tasks and responsibilities

To provide professional advice and support for a variety of clients on estate planning, wills, inheritance, tax and trusts to include:

• Estate and tax planning issues relating to the tax-efficient structuring of businesses and landholdings, the use of partnerships, LLPs and companies in wealth structuring, tax planning strategies
• The creation of family investment companies and trusts
• Advice on new and existing trusts
• The preparation of wills in a tax efficient manner which includes advising on inheritance tax and succession planning
• The appointment of guardians for infant child
• Lifetime gifts and inheritance tax exemption
• The creation of lifetime trusts
• Pension arrangements and life assurance policies
• Post death tax planning and deeds of variation
• Dealing with estates which contain agricultural, business or foreign assets
• Preparing inheritance tax returns and estate accounts

You will manage your own matters from inception to post-completion. 

Knowledge, education, and experience required

This position is ideally suited to a senior lawyer with over 6 years PQE. The candidate will need to demonstrate:

• A strong academic background
• Strong, up to date technical knowledge
• Good communication skills
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• A broad and varied caseload
