New head of employment law at Lodders

Lodders has appointed Damian Kelly as head of employment law.

Lodders has appointed Damian Kelly as partner and head of its employment law service.

An employment specialist in all aspects of employment law for over 25 years, Damian joins Lodders from Black Country firm Higgs & Sons where he has been a partner since 2010.

Previously, he practiced at Eversheds in Birmingham, where he qualified and was then appointed partner in 2004.

Damian advises employers on a wide range of employment issues, including contracts of employment, directors’ service contracts, HR policies and procedures, disciplinary issues, redundancies and reorganisations, senior executive terminations, settlement agreements and Tribunal claims. He also advises on managing relationships with Trade Unions, Works Councils and European Works Councils.

He regularly acts as a Tribunal advocate – with recent successes in both the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal – and provides a range of employment law and HR training programmes for managers and HR professionals.

Clear vision

Of his move to Lodders, Damian says: “I have been impressed by Lodders and the team’s clear vision for the next phase in its growth, particularly in business law. This is an exciting opportunity to play a part in realising these plans, leading the firm’s employment law services provision to businesses and individuals, and helping Lodders’ clients to achieve their business objectives as safely, quickly and cost-efficiently as possible.

“Lodders is committed to providing exceptional client service, something that is also very important to me,” he adds. “For me, this means striving to really listen to what clients want to achieve, and focussing on what clients can do instead of what they cannot.”

Exceptional advice

Lodders’ managing partner Paul Mourton says: “Damian adds a wealth of experience and knowledge to the existing team, which has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years.”

Damian Kelly is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association.
