I joined Lodders in January 2014 as a partner in the Business Group bringing extensive experience of corporate and commercial matters and a focus on charities and not for profit matters. In addition to acquisitions and disposals of companies and businesses, setting up joint ventures and drafting partnership agreements, I specialise in advising charities and not for profit clients, including setting up and incorporating charities, mergers and restructuring, governance issues and drafting commercial agreements.
By virtue of my specialisation, I am involved with many charities and I am the immediate past head of the lawyers in the UK 200 Group, which is a group of accountants and lawyers. I am the Legal Adviser to the Leamington Spa Chamber of Trade and the Secretary of the Leamington Spa Conservation Trust.
What do I enjoy most about my job?
The most enjoyable part of my job is being involved with clients’ activities as a trusted advisor. My clients are in a wide variety of commercial and not for profit sectors and include agricultural clients, including various breed societies, ecclesiastical clients, and family businesses.
What gets me out of bed in the morning?
I enjoy the work I do.
What do you get up to away from the office?
Outside of Lodders I am the consultant editor of the Law Society’s Book on the Companies Act 2006 and for many years was a contributing editor of Butterworth’s Corporate Law Service. In my spare time I enjoy swimming and going to classical music concerts. I am also interested in the conservation of old buildings.
