Short bio:

I am a Partner in Lodders’ Private Client team and lead the firm’s Care and Capacity team.

I joined Lodders in 2017.  I specialise in advising clients and their families on a wide range of issues relating to care funding and loss of capacity. This includes advice relating to NHS Continuing Healthcare and local authority funding.

I assist with applications to the Court of Protection regarding property and financial affairs and health and welfare matters, as well as applications relating to the removal of trustees who are no longer capable of acting.

I am responsible for the management of the financial affairs of individuals who have lost capacity, acting as a professional attorney or deputy.

I advise attorneys regarding their duties and responsibilities and provide assistance in resolving disputes between attorneys. I provide advice and assistance relating to concerns of financial abuse of vulnerable individuals.

I prepare Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, helping my clients plan ahead, preserve family assets and put appropriate arrangements in place for the management of their affairs in the future.

My wider Private Client experience includes estate planning and estate administration, allowing me to consider capacity and later life planning in the context of a client’s wider personal, family and financial circumstances.

I enjoy building long term relationships with clients and their families. I offer empathy and understand that questions around declining capacity and care can involve difficult decisions and sensitive family circumstances. I focus on providing practical solutions and making complex issues understandable to give clients the confidence to make informed decisions.

I am a fully qualified member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and hold the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Elderly Clients with Distinction. I currently sit on the STEP Birmingham branch committee. I am a fully qualified and accredited member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly known as Solicitors for the Elderly) and a member of the Professional Deputies Forum. I am also a Dementia Friend, part of an Alzheimer’s Society initiative.
