I joined Lodders as a trainee solicitor in September 2014 and qualified as a Solicitor in the Private Client department in September 2016.
I undertake a broad range of private client work, including wills, probate and private client related land matters. I also work alongside the specialist care and capacity team here to advise on powers of attorney, deputyship orders and vulnerable clients. I work with a large spectrum of individuals from vulnerable adults with dependency issues to high net worth individuals and often work closely with their families, friends and advisors to ensure the best result.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
It is very rewarding to know that you have helped provide someone with security moving forward in their life, whether this be physically, emotionally or financially. It is important to me that the benefit from my work spreads not only to the individual but also to their family and friends and that it ensures a positive outcome for all those involved.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A new puppy informing me that he wants his breakfast!
Do you have any interesting personal achievements?
In 2015 I battled wind and rain to walk Hadrian’s Wall, in order to raise money for the local sea scout group following the loss of a close friend in a hiking accident. I followed this up by running the Stratford 10k and attempted to do so without any training (not the most sensible decision ever!).
I also assisted in a Court of Appeal victory whereby we overturned a controversial traffic flow system in Totnes, Devon, resulting in a boost to local business revenue. I have also acted as a mentor for students from both Leicester and Coventry universities who are looking to pursue a career in law.
