Caroline joined Lodders in July 2017 when her previous firm, DFLP, merged with Lodders. Caroline is experienced in all aspects of financial disputes and specialises in high net-worth cases, regularly acting for clients with very substantial assets. Having originally qualified into the family firm in London in 1990, Caroline then set up her own firm before moving to live and work in Birmingham, with her family, in 2003. As a Partner at Benussi & Co, she had an impact in the legal community immediately and was seen as a “breath of fresh air”.
Caroline is also a fully trained collaborative lawyer. Caroline has an interest in pensions on divorce and enjoys the details of resolving the financial disclosure and presenting the case in a way which maximises the client’s position. She aims to provide effective, proportionate advice, helping clients to focus on the real issues. Caroline finds the majority of her work is referrals from previous clients, who having experienced the whole process, can appreciate the importance of empathetic, firm advice. She also receives referrals from other solicitors and barristers, who obviously want the best for their contacts.
Caroline Dresden specialises in high net worth matrimonial finance cases, especially those involving business assets and substantial pensions. In the 2019 Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession, she was highlighted as showing “astonishing clear-sightedness, astuteness and empathy.”
Caroline is a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and has served as a committee member of the West Midlands region. This is a group of family lawyers who aim to resolve family breakdown in a conciliatory way. Resolution promotes training and networking, and its own code of conduct, all of which ultimately benefits the client too.
Caroline is involved with several community organisations but otherwise has little spare time, as a wife and mother of two boys.
